Joining the group with Manish was the best decision I have made to find true freedom from porn addiction.

Manish was pivotal in helping us learn about creating healthy habits, being accountable to each other through the whole course. I can truly say with Manish and my accountability partners I would still be struggling in this addiction.

My first exposure to porn was through a friend at age 15. The first time watching made me feel disgusted and I never searched for it throughout my secondary education. But the seed was planted. I began to watch in secret at age 18, during the break before I began my pre-university late that year. It was never a problem as it was infrequent and access to it was rare. However, fast forward to age 26, I was at the cusp of completing my master’s degree before I started having personal problems with my supervisor and that ended with me in limbo where I had very little to do and unlimited free internet in my hostel. It was at this point that I began binging on pornography and online nudity. Today, I am 34 years old and I write this with tears in my eyes regretting the years and youth I have wasted. My struggle has always been a secret. Nobody knew about it. I spoke to no one. I tried breaking free but I never could. My life plunged from bad to worse. Everything was falling apart. I was miserable, bitter and worse, incapable of removing the very thing I knew was robbing me of my future. I tried to get myself rid of the habit but I was stuck in the binge-purge cycle. It wasn’t until several days of prayer and plain begging God for someone to help that I received a message from Manish. I had tried opening up to my close friend but because he never really struggled with porn in particular, he never really understood the depth of my cry for help. Joining a small group with a dedicated and understanding yet firm leader helped me tremendously. I am by no means free from the binge-purge cycle as of now but I am able to go without relapsing for longer than I have ever been able to in many years. That alone has changed not only my outlook on life but also of God as well. For a long time, I have always believed that the bad things that happened in my life were because of God’s punishments, and I felt bitter about it.
